Render Farm

A render farm is a group of computers that share out rendering work so a batch of images or a video finishes far faster than one machine could manage. Each machine takes a different frame or a different tile of the same image.

How the work gets shared

Rendering splits neatly. A 360 degree video is hundreds of separate frames, and no frame depends on the one before it, so twenty machines can each take a share and the whole thing lands in a fraction of the time.

Still images can be split too, cut into tiles that different machines solve and then stitch back together. Either way the maths is the same, there is just more hardware doing it at once.

Why it matters for your turnaround

A photorealistic jewelry render is slow work for one computer. Ray tracing a diamond means tracking light as it refracts and bounces inside the stone, and that cost multiplies across every frame of a video.
